I am saddened to write this because the surgery has been excellent in the past. But there was some confusion over an on line prescription. East Boldon pharmacy didn't have the prescribed tablets but they did have an alternative. I needed my tablets urgently because of a forthcoming holiday so the chemist kindly emailed the surgery and asked them to change the prescription and asked me to give them a ring as a follow up request, which I did. Unfortunately I was told by the receptionist to go and pick the prescription up at the chemist and try a few more chemists in the area, and if after trying a few, I couldn't manage to find the required drug to ring the surgery back and a revised prescription would then be issued.
I have never ever had to do this in the past. But according to this receptionist it was her way of working and it had never been done any other way in the past.
Just as well I have my husband available as I have had two spine operations and can have some very bad days when I'm bed ridden.
Anyway, fortunately Asda have the required tablets, so it's Happy holidays!
I must point out this one star rating is meant ONLY for the young receptionist who answered the phone, and is not a reflection on the other staff at the surgery.

You can't get thru the phone is constantly engaged, I had to get my support worker to go in to the doctors to see what's going on?
Also I came in with my support team , and the doctor said the prescription will be in the chemist , it took 4 days to get it.
We rang about 30 times on Monday and today is the sane, are you leaving the phone off the hook?

I have been a patient for about a year and I’m constantly impressed by the service. I have had various problems since then and they have been brilliant with me every single time. Wonderful practice. Wonderful staff. ❤️

This is my mam's surgery. I thank them for their help and care in treating recent and ongoing health issues for her. Reception, nurses and doctors are dedicated, helpful and caring. Tory is amazing with such an understanding caring for the elderly, thank you.

My mother has moved out of the catchment area and at the age of 74 has to find a new
GP. She has been with this practice all of her life. I think the NHS allowing this to happen to elderly people is cruel.
She hasn't moved too far away, 5 minutes by car from surgery to her front door, we timed it.
The rules though isn't it? Surgeries are supposed to be patient driven but doing this proves that to be a lie.
I've been with this surgery for years too. Took 5 doctors two years to work out my hair loss is partly due to vitamin D deficiency. One doctor mistook my dad's heart attack for heartburn. Took three bouts of pneumonia for my mother to get a rescue pack only for a nurse to take it upon herself to remove it from her prescription.
My mother is probably better out of this place. A month to get an appointment with the doctor of your choice and then waiting past your time. If YOU are late they send you away.

The one time I need a GP in a rare occasion I was let down with telephone appointment told it was too complicated to deal with over the phone and I would receive a text about a face to face appointment which I had to chase up 2hrs later (explanation busy after bank holiday) with the earliest face to face being 7 days later.

24hrs later I graduatly felt worse (luckily discovered I had work GP telephone service) where I was recommended to go to A&E due the severity of my symptoms/pain. After a barrage of tests found out I had an infection and was border line for admission.

Really disappointed in the service and it shows they miss the previous generation of proper GPs!!!!

Horrendous receptionist. Tried joining this gp in September unaware I'd need an appointment to register . So I went in gp last week to make an appointment however was not on systerm yet so had to refill forms in mean time I've had to ring 111 got sent to urgent care however due to my problems they advise I need to see gp asap as tests bloods and need camera to see what the issues are . I've moved from gateshead to sheilds so needed to change gp as out of area to be told I should be seeing my old gp as I'm still not registered however I'm out of there area and with needed tests doing asap that's not possible as I'll not receive the letters or notifications for extremely important tests . So my gateshead ring this place and tell them it's a matter of urgency who then get me an appointment with the nurse so I can go on systerm all fine ish . I try making appointments for my failing liver my kidney disorder and also the fact I've been passing blood for 4 weeks and the receptionist says well what it so important again I explained as she told me no appointment until 9 dec which is 3 weeks away even tho my current gp and urgent care have both rang to explain . Then the nurse gives me a form to take to the hospital to have my bloods done . As they dont take bloods in this gp . So I'm still trying to get appointment to which she tells me to ring in the morning however there is no emergancy appointments left but to keep trying even tho there is none this week . Both my children 5 and 7 still need to be registered even tho my disabled daughter also needs gp appointments for her disorder . I registered September yet forms were missing on there behalf so reregistered a week prior to this and still not on systerm until both children have been seen by a nurse . I will move my gp again asap this practise is a disgrace. Avoid . I will also state I had to re tell the receptionist 6 times my problems in a room full of patients that had managed to get appointment. Disgusting.also receptionist after I'm trying to tell her also the whole practise of parents my issues and problems she then states I'm not arguing with you and sssshhhhh me off with her hand . Complete ridiculous I will take this a lot further this is my health and I've been made to feel extremely upset and embarrassed having to repeat my health to be talked down to . Complaints will be followed up . Yes we will see . . Wrote by kirsty Campbell
